Dear all,
Welcome.
Uttarakhand/Glacier meltdown: The devastation occured at Kedar valley is found to have it's origin due to a glacier meltdown as per Satellite study. The Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) had revealed that it is neither due to cloud burst nor due to breakage of Gandhi reservoir. The Scientific report states that two glaciers meltdown had caused heavy water flow. The pictures had been issued by IIRS, which had been taken by RISAT-1 Satellite.
As per IIRS, the Kedar's North-East located Companion glacier's upper layer had melted. Along with it, Churabari glacier also melted thereby carrying big stones and earth. Both glaciers water conjoined prior to Kedarnath temple and later devastation occured. The companion glacier alone didn't flew much water but altogether it had caused devastation.
As per specialists, due to heavy rain glaciers upper layer gets melted. The snow has less temperature whereas rain water has higher temperature due to which the layer got melted. It is to note that heavy rain occured on June 16.
Suryanelli gangrape: The Rajya Sabha Dy. Chairman, Kurien, whose name was involved in Suryanelli's gangrape had got relief as the victim's plea had been rejected by Session Court. As per the Idduki Court, there is nothing new and all aspects had been considered earlier. The victim had made Kurien as accused after single guilty, Dharmarajan's statement that he was present during that time in a car. The matter came into light wherein 35 accused had been released by High Court.
Congress/BJP: Two chief political parties viz. Congress & BJP had been lost in abeyance in UP. Both have hopes in Gujarat's CM, Modi. BJP believes that Modi would be doing some charismatic role whereas Congress believes he would aid in polarisation of votes. Therefore, it had made strategy against SP & BSP.
BJP would eye on appeasement policy of Congress/SP for Muslim community. During past general elections, Congress had won around 22 seats. But it couldn't exhibit the same in Assembly elections. Now, it's no.2 had handed over the election campaigning to Congress party Gen. Secretary, Mistry. He had been working there since long.
His first effort would be to target BJP. As per sources, considering political equations, Modi would be at the centre stage. Congress election campaign would focus on preventing him at the Centre. SP/BSP would not be an alternative like Congress.
Congress analysts believe that if this formula works like in 2009, it would be able to safeguard old statistics. BJP would target both Congress & SP. BJP's campagin incharge for UP is Amit Shah, who is also from Gujarat. It is more likely that Gujarat formula would be implemented. Along with social equations, new faces upbringing along with appeasement would be BJP's chief agenda. it would also reveal Modi's development agenda for UP. Contrary to it, Mistry would show incomplete development of Gujarat State.
Black money/EC: The BJP leader, Gopinath Munde, had confessed about expenditure of eight crores INR for fighting elections, which had been under investigation by Election Commission. It could reach upto Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate. Taking cognizance of the fact, Election Commission had asked for his statement's record. NCP is enthusiastic about it as it is fighting in his constituency. If Munde is found guilty, his LS membership might be cancelled. Also, he may be banned for further contesting for a period of upto six years. Earlier, he had given affidavit that he has assets worth 6.25 crores INR. In such a situation, it would imply that he had used black money for contesting elections. As per NCP spokesman, EC should ask about the source of income. But he had given another affidavit stating that he had spent 19 lakh INR during the elections.
Tourists: Due to landslide occuring at J.L.Nehru route for Nathu La Pass on Wednesday, around 250 tourists are stuck up. They are safe with the help coming from Army. The route is also being widened with cutting of hills. The continuing rain had resulted in landslide and soil erosion.
On Wednesday night, landslide happened at 17 Miles. The Eastern Sikkim Gangtok region Officials stated that the area is sensitive. Therefore, people going there come during the day time itself. The tourists have to take special permission for going to Nathu La pass and Changu lake. The locales are less in number.
Around 250 tourists are given refuge by Army. These comprise of 95 male, 83 female and 51 childrens.
Article 370: BJP's senior leader, Advani, had expressed dismay over usage of words like cheating and fraud in Abdullah's statement. He blogged advise to Omar, Kashmir CM, that he should not use such words like cheat and fraud. His party had been opposed to Article 370. Except Nehru & few others, even Patel was also against it. But due to Nehru, he had kept silent. He stated that Abdullah had right to oppose on matters related to J & K. But he should not use incorrect words.
CBI Autonomy: The constitution of retired Justices committee for avoiding political interference in CBI as proposed by GoM is as per the present provisions of the law. It is made clear by Fin. Minister, who is heading the GoM. He stated that the proposals would be informed after the affidavit is being filed on July 03. The details of affidavit could not be revealed. Based upon recommendations, the govt. would be filing the affidavit. The hearing is scheduled to be held on July 10.
Political Outfits/RTI: The political parties have stood jointly to protect themselves from RTI. An All Party meeting is being called up by the Centre for necessary amendments so that these parties could be kept outside the purview of RTI.
It is to note that CIC had declared these parties as Public Authority and brought them under the purview of RTI, which had been opposed politically. Under it, public could seek information abou donations, expenses etc. After the decision, Information Commissioners are to be appointed within six weeks followed by providing information to the public. With amendment in the law about political parties not being public authorities, the Commission's decision would be rendered ineffective. Also, it is learnt of a proposed Ordinance for amending RTI law. All political parties are against the decision. Besides Congress, Leftist parties, BJP, BSP, NCP etc are also against it.

Standard & Poor's has lowered its credit rating on Cyprus, knocking the debt-stricken island country from the lower rungs of junk status into "selective default" because of an announced debt exchange.
The Cypriot government is swapping some local bonds for longer-term bonds. Though that eases some of the immediate liquidity pressure on Cyprus, the S&P analysts said they thought the new bonds were on "less favorable terms" for Cyprus than the existing bonds and that it was a "distressed exchange."
Cyprus agreed to a 23 billion euro ($30 billion) bailout deal in March with its eurozone partners and the IMF.
The S&P analysts said they could raise their rating on Cyprus back up into junk status if the exchange goes through as planned.

US President Barack Obama has praised Nelson Mandela as "an inspiration to the world", during his visit to South Africa.
He was speaking in the capital, Pretoria, after talks with President Jacob Zuma.
Mr Mandela, South Africa's first black president, has been critically ill for nearly a week.
Earlier, Mr Obama said he would not visit the 94-year-old in hospital, but would meet his family in private.
The White House said the decision had been made "out of deference to Nelson Mandela's peace and comfort and the family's wishes", but that Mr Obama and his wife would offer the Mandela family "their thoughts and prayers at this difficult time".
Mr Zuma said the former leader remained "stable but critical", but said he had "every hope that he will be out of hospital soon".
'Outpouring of love'
In Pretoria, Mr Obama said Mr Mandela's example of "the power of principle, of people standing up for what's right continues to shine as a beacon".
"The outpouring of love that we've seen in recent days shows that the triumph of Nelson Mandela and his nation speaks to something very deep in the human spirit; the yearning for justice and dignity that transcends boundaries of race and class and faith and country," he said.
Mr Zuma said that as the first black leaders of their respective countries, Mr Obama and Mr Mandela were "bound by history" and so "carry the dreams of millions of people in Africa and in the diaspora who were previously oppressed".
The two leaders addressed a wide range of issues in their conversations, including trade and industry, conflicts in the region, efforts to tackle HIV/Aids and foreign affairs.
Mr Zuma said Mr Obama's visit was "well timed" to take advantage of a growing market in South Africa, and called for greater US investment.
He also said he believed the Africa National Congress (ANC), which he leads and which was founded by Mr Mandela, was still "moving in the footsteps" of the former leader.
"I have no doubt that what we have been doing is part of what Mandela would be doing if he was here," he said.
When asked whether the US felt threatened by the increasing influence of other countries, particularly China, in Africa, Mr Obama said he believed it was a good thing for the development of the continent, but cautioned South Africa to ensure that foreign companies were employing local workers and investing back into the country.
Mr Obama, who is travelling with his family, arrived in South Africa from Senegal on Friday evening.
During his weekend trip, the US president will visit Robben Island off Cape Town, where Mr Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years. On Monday, he will continue his African tour in Tanzania.
Lung damage
Mr Mandela is revered for leading the fight against white minority rule in South Africa and then preaching reconciliation despite being imprisoned for 27 years.
He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 and was elected president the following year. He left office in 1999 after a single term.
Mr Mandela retired from public life in 2004 and has rarely been seen at official events since.
He has a long history of lung problems, and was diagnosed with tuberculosis in the 1980s while he was a prisoner on Robben Island.
After his release, Mr Mandela said that the tuberculosis was probably caused by dampness in his prison cell.
