Dear all,
Welcome.
Today is World Population day. On this day, a rally had been organised from India Gate upto Vijay Chowk. It is organised by Population Stabilisation Fund, an autonomous body. Also, a national conference on "Population stabilisation for better future" is organised immediately after it. It is to note that India's population had been increased to 121 crores as per 2011 census.
During 2010-11 decade, it's growth rate had been 17.64%, whereas prior to it, it was 21.15%. Excepting 1911-21, 2001-2011 is the first decade, which had less growth as compared to previous decade. The Health and Family Welfare ministry had been celebrating Population day for increasing awareness.
Egypt: After ousting of President, Moorsi, conflict amidst supporters and opposition had resulted in death of 55 people along with 435 wounded. The govt. had alleged charges of firing outside Army's barrack upon 200 people. Many influential leaders are arrested. The Republican guard's Headquarter was attacked by armed terrorists. Around 650 people are arrested.
US President, Obama, had talked with Qatar and UAE leaders regarding Egyptian crisis. Army had ousted second time elected President, Moorsi. White House stated that Obama had discussed along with Qatar's Amir Bin Hamad Al Thani on Egyptian happenings. He stressed that violence from any side is unacceptable. It is important to have involvement of all political parties for stability in Egypt. US & Qatar would have relations with all factions of Egypt so that a stable govt. is back on track.
Green Rating: It had been started by Planning Commission as various States had been found to be not complying with the recommended measures. The Chattisgarh State stood 17th in terms of Air Pollution whereas it was seventh in terms of Water Pollution. Although started by MoEF minister, it was planned for getting Centre's aid but the results had been more devastating. The chaos created had resulted in pollution of forests, rivers, land, water and/or air. It is supposed that Uttarakhand's disaster is caused due to glacier melting, which had been unpredictable. The hilly State is also found to be occupying 20th position in terms of Air Pollution and 25th position in terms of Water Pollution. Also, Meghalaya State stood on 19th with Mizoram coming on 13th position. The National Capital,Delhi, had been on 30th position. But State govt.'s are not accepting these ratings. A notable example is that of Gujarat, where it is said to be standing on eighth position in terms of Malnutrition.
With regards,
