Green State: As per Satellite data, Himalayan State, Sikkim, biggest green state with 47.3% area covered with forests. It had 3359 sq. kms out of total 7096 sq.kms area covered with forest. Additional 1000 hectare would be brought under forest region with present five year planning. It would bring more than 50% of area under plantation. The State had 500 sq.km heavily covered forest, 2161 sq.km dense forest and 698 sq.km open forest regions. Besides, 25 sq.kms os area is covered with plant and trees. During 1993, it had 43.95% forest area, which increased to 47.34% during 2013.
NASA: NASA would launch next mars mission during November. The Space ship has reached Florida's Kennedy Space Centre. The US Air Force's C-17 Cargo plane had transported Lockheed Martin built Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution (MAVEN) plane from Colorado. The project team had given report about it. It had been taken out of container and kept for stability. During this week, it would be joining various components. The various tests to be done include rotational stability, software test, solar panels, etc. The mission would be dedicated to Mars upper atmosphere study. The gas absence would be studied in climatic change of Mars.
OECD: Paris based OECD had issued a report on July 8, 2013 wherein it is stated that Indian Economy is on path to recovery. The composite leading indicators signalled that it is improving. Though the path is slightly weaker. During May 2013, Composite leading indicator had reached 97.6 whereas during April, it was 97.3. In United Nation's report, it is estimated to be having 6.4% economic growth rate for India. The other Asia-Pacific economies are presumed to be having 6% growth rate. Prime minister's Economic Advisory (PMEA) Council's Chairman, Rangarajan, had issued the report. IMF had amended the figures. As per it, Indian economy's growth rate would be 5.6%.
The Economic and Social Survey of India and Pacific 2013 report had stated that Indian economy's growth rate would be better than previous year of 2012-13 but it would remain lesser than previous situation of recession.
Border posts: India had decided to make additional 23 new posts at Nepal & Bhutan border for preventing infiltration and arms smuggling. As per sources, the proposal had been under process but after Bodhgaya's blast, it is decided to have 18 posts on Bhutan border and five post on Nepal border. These would be manned by SSB. It(border) runs approx. 699 kms & 1751 kms respectively. Presently, there are 22 battalions with 455 & 160 posts on these border including the new ones.
NSEL: The closure of National Stock Exchange Ltd. is followed by non-payment of debts by Lotus Refineries, which is stated to be having 252 crores INR worth investors loan debt. Lotus had claimed that it has no such debt. NSEL had told of legal action against it. In a letter to FMC, Lotus had denied any such compulsion for debt payment. NSEL had proposedfor default proceedings against Lotus. Also, it's unit, Indian Bullion market association (IBMA) had been asked to be not paid anything by NSEL to it. IBMA has also balance holding of 1,159.55 crore INR to NSEL. NSEL has 60.88% stake of IBMA with same directors.
NSEL Investors Forum President had asked that investors are worried about their money. NSEL had assured that it would pay its first installment by Tuesday.Also, Indian Council of Investors (ICI) had appealed before the Bombay High Court. NSEL had stopped trading effective from July 31 onwards. It had posed danger to 6,500 crore INR worth payment. Congress MP, Darda, had asked for SFIO investigation into the matter.
Court rulings:
[1]. Panchkula: At Haryana, HUDA had started building residential sectors at Kalka-Pinjore Urban Complex. The land rate fixed by HUDA was 65 lakhs INR per acre which had been nearly doubled by Court. Also, it is decided that when the land would planned, their plots would be of more value as Enhancement would be taken from allottees. HUDA is likely to appeal. It had acquisitioned land worth 300 acres for Kalka-Pinjore Urban complex during 2010 at Bhagawanpur, Islam nagar and Bhogpur. The farmers had argued that many reputed housing projects are coming there. It would have increased land rates. DLF, Eldico etc projects are coming.
[2]. Juvenile: The Supreme Court would give verdict upon the definition of juvenile afresh after hearing of petition made by S.Swamy of Janata Party.
[3]. Sahara: Supreme Court had stated that it is very difficult to accept that Sahara Group had returned 24,000 crore INR worth investors money prior to it's order for return of amount worth 22,000 crore INR. The Bench had stated that it is very difficult to accept and could be relied upon only when it could be exhibited that prior to SEBI, SAT and Supreme Court
hearing, an affidavit had been filed earlier. The comment was made when their counsel, Jethmalani, had stated that Sahara group had returned around 22,000 crore INR of investors money. As such, no case could be made against Sahara India Housing Investment Corp. Ltd and Sahara India Real Estate Corp. ltd. for contempt of court.
GSLV-D5: The launch of GSLV-D5 had got it's counting started on Sunday, which would last for 29 hours. It would be launched on Monday 04:50 pm. In it, first cryogenic engine would be tested again. Earlier, it had been done during April 2010. It would carry GSAT-14 which wieghts 1982 kgs. GSLV needs such cryogenic engines, which would be able to carry equipments weighing more than 5 tonnes. Presently, it had capacity of 1.5 tonnes.
As per ISRO, the rocket costs 160 crores with Satellite cost of additional 45 crores INR. ISRO Chairman had stated that there are seven satellites in the queue for launch. Chandrayaan-2 would be launched with it. Some of the features are:
1. It is GSLV's eight launch with fourth inhouse launch.
2. It is carrying communication satellite weighing 1982 kgs.
3. It is using solid and liquid fuel with cryogenic engine.
4. It is being prepared for five tonnes satellite launch.
5. In the rocket, Oxygen is burnt at 183 deg and Hydrogen at 253 deg C for which it spends 40,000 rounds per minute.
6. GSLV-D5 is 49.13 metre in length.
7. During the launch, it would produce thrust worth 6773 kN.
8. It is 3.5 m wide.
9. Within 17 minutes, it would be established in orbit at 213.51 kms.
10. Immediately within 2min. 29 sec., second stage ignition would start. After 2min. 31 sec, first stage would be separated.
11. After 4min.52 sec, second stage would be separated.
12. At 4min.53 sec, Cryogenic engine ignition would start.
13. At 16 min.55sec, cryogenic burnt out would occur.
